Forgotten creation
Jul. 31st, 2012 01:23 amOh my jolly goodnight. I can not believe what my mother found in the spare room back home.
Mum is having a new boiler fitted and had to empty one of the cupboards in my former bedroom before the work could be done today.
In amongst the old books, jigsaw puzzles, and other childhood paraphernalia she found some old journals of mine from my teens.
Inside the journals were my scribblings what I and a friend had begun way, way, way back in the mid 80's
My friend at that time, Anne was a budding writer and had asked me to help her out. SO of course I turned my hand to helping her. Of all the scribblings we made I could only find one little bit that was left in an old exercise book. I can't even remember what the rest of the story was about or its title.
Bear in mind I wrote this nearly 25 years ago and all I have done is transcribe it to this journal post.
Her head spun as she tried to sight down the gun barrel, watching closely the woman in front of her twitch her claw like hands. The Kysandian’s pistol lay over near the wall where it had slid when the woman dropped it.
“Is your mind twisted so much that you can’t see beyond your psychotic delusion?” snapped Teelle. Her head hurt even more now and it took all her strength to keep upright.
“You weak, stupid bitch. Do you think you can stop me? Letuzian hissed back at her before cackling, “You can never stop me. I will take pleasure in killing you.” Her eyes were wild and her face twisted in an ugly grimace.
Teelle’s hand shook but with effort she gestured to Letuzian the move away from the exit. “It’s a pity your plans will not be fulfilled where you are going.”
She hated this woman, she was pure evil without a conscience, wicked and deceptive. She had murdered hundreds with her insanity and hurt and injured hundreds more innocent people
“You are under arrest. You have the right to be tried by your peers in the Central Court of law.”
“You can not arrest me!” Letuzian screech “You do not have the strength to stop me.”
Teelle’s head spun again as she moved over to the abandoned weapon. Bending slowly feeling like her legs were filled with jelly, her hand clasped around the metal. As she rose she didn’t see the knife fly through the air or feel it embed itself in her left shoulder.
“It’s too bad Waide will not be able to help you now,” Letuzian rasped as she reached into her robes.
Teelle pulled her trigger as yet another knife flew across the short distance between them, ducking away from it colliding with the wall in an effort to save herself .
The force from the pistols bolt threw the Kysandorian across the floor only to leave the body slumped like a broken doll. Blood bubbled at the corner of Letuzian’s mouth. “You won’t save him.” Came the barely audible whisper as the light in the mad woman’s eyes finally faded and the lifeless form slumped forward as she expired her last evil breathe.
Teelle swayed, her pistol dropping from her weakened fingers as she pushed away from the wall with a wet, slick, blood covered hand.
“Derrin!” she uttered, remembering her partner, her friend. “I have to find him.”
Gritting her teeth she staggered along the corridor away from the distant fighting.
“I am not going to lose any more friends. I can not, not Derrin.” She mumbled forcing her feet in front of each other but with her weakened condition she found it more and more difficult to move. Her head was throbbing now, she felt nauseous and dizzy.
She had a concussion, she knew if she passed into unconsciousness now she could not save Derrin.
Where am I going she wondered feeling disoriented and slipping to her knees.
Rest, yes rest. Just for a few moments but not just yet. She has something to do.
She steadied herself against the wall her head swimming and feeling sickened to the pit of her stomach Teelle to a breathe and pushed herself to her feet and onwards in her search.
She could hear the dull sounds of pistol bolt fire which sounded more like an echo than reality as she struggled to move her feet reaching for the wall to help her around the corner her eyes scanning ahead for Derrin. She couldn’t see him, she couldn’t see anything but a haze of white.
Those evil, final and hate filled words echoed in her ears over and over again. “You won’t save him. You won’t save him. You won’t...”
Teelle turned the corner but her knees gave away, her strength drained. She couldn’t see or hear, just feel the soft warmth envelope her body, she didn’t feel the arms around her of the call for a medic. Just a peculiar warmth as she lapsed into unconsciousness.
Teelle awoke with a groan.
“Welcome back.” Teelle heard the almost melodic voice expressing relief but the echo was still there.
She tried to open her eyes but couldn’t. Why couldn’t she see? She reached up to her eyes but found a bandage across the right side of her face and eyes.
“DO you know your name?” The nurse or doctor asked.
“Makx, Teelle.”
“Rank?”
“Security Force Officer. Hey? Wait a minute, where am I.”
“Don’t worry,” the man chuckled. “I’m not here to interrogate you. Just a few simple questions to check that you are aware of your surroundings. You are in the SF Base Medical Centre.”
Teelle struggled to sit up with a little difficulty as her left arm was strapped across her chest.
“What happened? How did I get here?” She questioned as she felt the bed raised into a more comfortable position”
“You received a wound to you temple and our cheek bone has a hairline fracture. That is why your face is bandaged.”
Teelle reached up again feeling the swollen eyes beneath the gauze. It felt tender. She will have a beautiful pair of black eyes in the morning.
“Don’t touch.” Her hand was gently moved away. “You were very lucky. If Officer Waide hadn’t found you, you would not have made it. The knife wound in your shoulder was very nasty but you should get the use of your arm back soon. The graze across you side was a different matter. You lost an awful amount of blood.”
“I don’t remember that happening.”
“I’m not surprised you have concussion and loss of memory does occur.”
“How long have I been here?”
“Four days. I was hoping you would wake quickly. Officer Waide had started to get on my nerves. I have only just sent him to the dorms to get some rest and cleaned up.”
“Who are you?”
There was a chuckle, “I’m Dr Richmond.”
Dr Richmond went on to tell Teelle that Derrin had caught her just as she collapsed and summoned a medic then carried her back to the rescue vehicle. He stayed with her through the entire journey back to base then made a pest of himself fussing around her as the doctors tried to treat her for her wounds until her was forcibly ejected from the trauma room. After that he had kept vigil over her bed throughout the last four days.
Teelle yawned.
“I think you better get some rest now.” Dr Richmond chuckled as he lowered the bed.
Teelle didn’t argue just relaxed as best as she could and succumbed to the much need sleep.
When Teelle next woke up she could hear the familiar voice of her partner and friend, Derrin Waide.
Something wasn’t right. Derrin’s voice was low and hoarse as he spoke. Bit no! It couldn’t be him; Derrin would never say things like that to her.
“Teelle, please wake up. You’ve got to come back to us. We don’t want to lose you... I don’t want to lose you. I need you. Come back to us.”
The hushed hoarse voice quivered. She could hear him sobbing. Dr Richmond had said Derrin had kept vigil but this surprised her more. Derrin had never shown to her this gentle, caring nature before. He was sat here pouring his heart out to her thinking her in a coma. She had always been fond of him but rarely had he shown much emotion to her.
Trying to turn towards him, she groaned. Her eyes had been uncovered but she still had a large dressing against her temple and cheekbone.
“Teelle?” Derrin moved closer. “Teelle, you are safe now.” He grasped her hand holding it between both of his. “You are going to get better.”
“Of course she is going to get better.” Dr Richmond chuckled as he approached the bed. “Oh dear, didn’t anyone tell you Officer Makx came around last evening just after you left?”
“What?” Derrin was shocked and his face flushed with embarrassment.
“I didn’t know you cared.” Teelle whispered, “I won’t tell anyone, but its nice to know you don’t want to strangle me anymore.”
“How could...How.. You let me sit here...Why?” Derrin was lost for words.
Dr Richmond smiled and looked at Derrin. “I think I will leave you two alone for a short while.” He said and retreated.
“Why didn’t you say something?” Derrin asked.
“You surprise me is all.” She tried to sit up but soon found Derrin’s arm around her
help lift her up and push pillows behind her. It felt nice to be held.
“You got me so scared. I... I didn’t want to lose you. He voice cracked.
“I know.” She said, “I would have done the same thing. Thank you.” She felt for his hand and took it in hers squeezing it gently. “I didn’t want to lose you either. Who would I get to argue with? After all we are partners.”
“I would like to think we were more than just partners.” He squeezed her hand back then raised his palm to her uninjured cheek stroking it gently. “I was looking for you. She said I wouldn’t be able to save you.”
“She said the same to me.”
“I found her,” He looked down at their joined hands “Then I saw the blood. I hoped I wasn’t too late.”
“You saved me. Thank you.”
“I can’t lose you Teelle, not ever. I care too much to lose you.
Teelle could feel her eyes burn. “I am pretty hard to get rid of.” She laughed and squeezed his hand a little harder pulling his hand closer to her.
“That’s good to know.” Derrin said as he leaned forward to press a gentle kiss to her forehead, wrapping his arm around her a little more squeezing gently and lying back against the pillows.
“So no more threatening to ask for a new partner?” Teelle dared to ask feeling warm as she rested against Derrin.
“No way!” Derrin laughed. “I know a good thing when I find it.”

Date: 2012-07-31 08:28 pm (UTC)It is funny when you find things that you wrote as a teenager now, with life perspective behind you. As I was cleaning out my office closet, I came across a few of my journals that I kept in my teens. Too funny!! I was such an emo. ;-))
