Big Issue Newspaper Seller
Aug. 23rd, 2012 09:07 amOne of the characters you will see on the streets of Nottingham.
I do not know his name...yet he always gives me a smile and we chat for a few moments. I buy his newspaper but always engage his attention elsewhere so I don't actually take his newspaper.
No matter what life's troubles have come his way he is polite, cheerful and always smiling and his depth of knowledge is amazing that I always feel I have learned something after one of our little chats
The Big Issue is a street newspaper published in eight countries; it is written by professional journalists and sold by homeless individuals or vulnerably housed.
The Big Issue is one of the UK's leading social businesses and exists to offer these vulnerable people the opportunity to earn a legitimate income, thereby helping them to reintegrate into mainstream society.
The Big Issue recognises, however, that for many people, being housed is only the first stage in getting off the streets; therefore, The Big Issue Foundation exists to support vendors in gaining control of their lives by tackling the various issues which lead to homelessness.
