Homemade Bounty Bars and Treats
May. 11th, 2014 08:10 pm
Ingrediants
15 oz milk cooking chocolate
4 cups shredded coconut
1 can (384ml) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup Icing/Powdered sugar
Method
In a large mixing bowl mix together the coconut, sugar and condensed milk.
Line a 9 x 12 inch foil tray with greaseproof paper or baking parchment.
Empty the coconut mixture into the tray pressing it down and levelling it flat.
Refrigerate over night.

Turnout the coconut and cut into 2 x 1 inch rectangles

Remove the bowl from the pan and allow the chocolate to cool for a few minutes.
Working swiftly drop one if the coconut blocks into the chocolate coating it completely using two forks.

Allow excess chocolate to drip away as you lift out the chocolate covered treat and place on greaseproof/parchment and allow to cool

As the chocolate cool and solidifies you can patten the bars with a fork and decorate

Sprinkle with a little coconut or crystal sugar

You can also melt white chocolate and drizzle over the treats

When cooling do not place in the fridge as the chocolate will go dull

If you dont want to make bars you can always make balls of the mixture for a chocolate treat

I also added glace cherries to some of the mixture to make a treat like the old 1970s/1980s Roundtree Cabana Bars
ENJOY!!!

Date: 2014-05-12 08:23 am (UTC)I was typing it on my tablet and apparently not paying attention. It was meant to say that the Needhams use leftover mashed potatoes in them. I know that sounds kind of -- I don't know if gross is the right word, but you take your leftover mashed's and mix them with powdered sugar and coconut and dip them in chocolate.
I have printed your recipe and am going to give them a try and add them my Christmas reertoire when I do my baskets for friends and neighbors.
