Ive been at the eye casulty half of the day today

I have a Chalazion in my right eye
Its a blockage of a gland near my tear duct caused by the oils and fluids in the eye. Surprisingly 1 out of 4 people get them but in most cases don't become inflamed or infected. According to the practitioner nurse mine is verging on infection but l caught it in the early stages.

Treatment Needed warm compresses gentle massage of the upper eye lid ibuprofen for inflamation and the antibiotics for a week.

Its swollen and tender and so l can't see too well out of my right eye because of the swelling and thats my sighting eye when l go out photographing.

If it gets worse im to go to GP and get him to refer me back to the eye casulty

Can you use your other eye with the camera? I'm just curious, because *I* can't! I've always used my left eye; I know that's really weird, but that's what feels natural for me. I've tried using my right eye, but it just feels so strange that I get distracted from what I'm trying to photograph.

Hope your eye is back to normal really, really soon!

I do try to use my left eye if I can or keep both open both ways are distracting but with the swelling almost gone its a lot easier now. The only problem is my eyes go a little out of focus when I have had an intense hour or two and I have to rest both.

The antibiotic ointment they hospital have given me is white paraffin based gel and greasy so when I put it in my eye I get a film over my cornea until it has meltes so I have to stand around with one eye closed for a while

Thank you its getting better now

Sometimes, there is nothing worse that an eye infection - I developed an allergic reaction to some make up and it looked for all the world a if my lids had turned to sandpaper and my eye to jelly. Suffice to say, I was prescribed piriton and everything went back to normal.

Get well soon :-)

thank you

Being a contact lens wearer also I always try to keep my eyes irrigated but in the summer with the pollen and allergies I can't wear them as much now because I am always wiping my eyes regardless of the anti histermines
