Coffee and Cookies
Feb. 15th, 2012 12:38 pmIt was a bad day at work yesterday and one of a series of bad days for a friend of mine. At the end of the day she seemed so worn, defeated and so, so sad and in the need for cheering up.
So on the way home last night I popped into Sainsbury’s and picked up a stick of butter a bag of caster sugar, a large bar of milk chocolate and the biggest jar of peanut butter I could find and when I got home baked her a batch of my peanut butter with chocolate chunk cookies. This morning I received a tremulous smile from her even though the defeat and sadness was still echoed in her eyes.
I couldn’t do anything to help her other than be there and try to cheer her with cookies that I know she likes.
I hate it when I am helpless to help or resolve problems from people I care about. I have never been one to just sit on the sidelines watching and waiting for things to work themselves out I prefer to be a proactive person and help sort the problem out or at least stand shoulder to shoulder providing support.
Now I feel sad. Coffee and cookies are essential now. There should be another 2 cups left in my coffee machine. Mmmm… Tim Hortons. My friend from Canada ships cans of Hortons’ coffee to me cause we don’t have Tim Hortons over here in the UK. If I run out of Horton’s coffee, a very nice Columbian or Peruvian will do in fact any of the other South American coffees will. I can’t drink African coffee due to the acidity in the bean that gives me terrible heartburn. The closest I have to a decent coffee shop is Caffe Nero and at a push Costa.

Ok, so who has pinched the last of my coffee???
