These are the flood marks at Trent Bridge Nottingham. You can see the 1946-7 is only 1 foot higher than the 2000 floods. If remembering my local history correctly, the Trent was widened and deepend during the building of the flood defences after 1947. I wonder, had that work not been done, would the 2000 floods have been much higher?
