Trent Building Nottingham University

The Trent Building serves as one of the main administrative buildings of the University of Nottingham. London architect Morley Horder created the Trent Building in the classical architectural style. The building is topped by a campanile (clock tower), is built of Portland stone and is protected as a grade II listed building. King George V and Queen Mary presided at the building's opening in 1928, and the building's Great Hall has hosted many distinguished visitors, including Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi and Queen Elizabeth II.

The writer D. H. Lawrence described the building as looking like an 'iced cake'.

The main buildings of the University’s campuses in China and Malaysia are both modelled on University Park’s iconic Trent building. In the case of the China campus this includes an exact replica of the clock tower.

University Park Campus, to the west of the Nottingham city centre, is the 330 acre historic home of The University of Nottingham. Set around its famous lake and clock-tower and with extensive parkland greenery, the campus is widely regarded as one of the most attractive in the country. University Park has won numerous awards for its architecture and landscaping, and has been named the greenest campus in the country thanks to a new Green Flag Award. The 2009 award is the seventh in a row for University Park – more than have ever been awarded to a UK university over successive years. Nottingham has several additional campuses, all of which share similar design features to the original, being "garden campuses" situated around a lake with extensive greenery (with the exception of Sutton Bonington campus, which predates the creation of University Park Campus).

By the generosity of Sir Jesse Boot, presented 35 acres (140,000 m2) to the City of Nottingham in 1921. Boot stipulated that while part of the Highfields site, lying southwest of the city, be devoted to the University College Nottingham, the rest should provide a place of recreation for the residents of the city.

...I'll definatley have to consider that. I know they'll be visiting Boston and Madrid this season. I may be able to find a way to fit Nottingham in there, at the very least peripherally.

Thats useful the airport to Spain is only down the road from the university about 20mins drive however they would have to then go on to Birmingham or Manchester for flights to the US

Madrid would be the last stop on the trip. Boston would be one of the first (after Vancouver), so it works out well.
