One of the characters you will see on the streets of Nottingham.

I do not know his name...yet he always gives me a smile and we chat for a few moments. I buy his newspaper but always engage his attention elsewhere so I don't actually take his newspaper.

No matter what life's troubles have come his way he is polite, cheerful and always smiling and his depth of knowledge is amazing that I always feel I have learned something after one of our little chats

The Big Issue is a street newspaper published in eight countries; it is written by professional journalists and sold by homeless individuals or vulnerably housed.

The Big Issue is one of the UK's leading social businesses and exists to offer these vulnerable people the opportunity to earn a legitimate income, thereby helping them to reintegrate into mainstream society.

The Big Issue recognises, however, that for many people, being housed is only the first stage in getting off the streets; therefore, The Big Issue Foundation exists to support vendors in gaining control of their lives by tackling the various issues which lead to homelessness.

Waiting...and waiting by Melodysparks (Chris Preedy)

This poor man had been waiting for a bus for 1 hour before I arrived. Whilst I was waiting I gave up walking 30 minutes later. I dont know how much longer this poor man waited after I left.

THis is one of my favourite images its a simple subject with a story but I like how the light came out

I received a comment by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] fangedsekhmet yesterday saying

"I wonder what it is that causes black and white images to improve almost any photo. Atmosphere? Anyway, rambling musings aside, I've been loving your B/W images over the past few days. I hope you have more"

Yes I do have more Midduck. Please look below the cut for some before and after shots

Well this is how I understand Back & White Photography and more pictures

Wikipedia says "Monochrome photography is photography where the image produced has a single hue, rather than recording the colours of the object that was photographed"

I love producing black and white images as there is something clean and crisp about them. I read that B&W and monochrome gives and elegance to a shot that colour doesn't and that they have a more refined quality with the simplicity giving the subject a sophisticated high-quality feel to it.

Sutton Scarsdale Hall

The image above seems ordinary in comparison to the one below. Converting it to black and white has made this image of a doorway take on a whole different feel to it it has emphasised it as something special in the tones between black and white the light is different the texture is sharper an all round different image but still the same.

Get Out Of My Face

Get out of my face

NO I did not cause a confrontation and he wasn't actually mad. This lovely man is one of the local Big Issue sellers, he always has a smile and nice word to say to me. I always buy for one of the magazines from him and in exchange I get a photograph from him if I have my camera with me.
